General Manager (Project Management) (3-year Contract)

The Job

  • Report to the Assistant Director (Project Management), the job holder will be leading one of the project management teams to implement entire project management cycle to ensure responsible development projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet corporate targets for quality, safety and environmental standards.
  • Provide input and support at development inception and feasibility stages to ensure that proposed projects are functionally, technically, financially and environmentally feasible.
  • Manage the team in the appointment of competent project consultants by ensuring tender drawings and documents are properly prepared as well as evaluating technical, managerial and financial soundness and capabilities of tenderers in accordance with established selection and evaluation procedures.
  • Ensure designs, plans, work progress and other deliverables from the appointed consultants and contractors meet the pre-defined requirements and rectify defects when they occur or upon commissioning.
  • Conduct value management and risk analysis to recommend corrective/preventive actions and resolution on reported design, programme, method or quality deficiencies and problems as well as on functionality and buildability issues.
  • Develop quality and environmentally conscious practices among consultants and contractors by implementing quality assurance and environmental management systems, control processes, and related policies to ensure satisfaction of customers, minimise costs and risks, and safeguard the public image of the Housing Society.
  • Ensure project management staff have necessary skills and understanding to manage the assigned projects in a highly professional manner.
  • Build and maintain partnering relationships with key government contacts, development partners, consultants, contractors, external property professionals and internal divisions to ensure smooth implementation of the projects.

The Person

  • University degree in Architecture or Building related disciplines.
  • Member of professional institution in building industry, preferably Architects or Engineers.
  • Minimum 15 years in planning, design and project management, of which 10 years must be gained after qualification. Prior experience in managing large scale residential development projects in Hong Kong would be an advantage.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of related ordinances as well as current design and construction practices.
  • Strong in team building, communication, influencing and problem-solving strategies.
