The Job:

• Lead the design and implementation of new application systems, ensuring they are aligned with the organization's overall IT strategy and architecture standards.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to application development teams, ensuring adherence to architecture standards and best practices.
• Establish and maintain rapport relationship with business colleagues (IT customers); understand their businesses and operations to ensure the alignment of IT initiatives with business and effective and efficient use of IT.
• Lead the implementation of medium to large size IT development projects to ensure the development or enhancement work meet user requirements according to signed user requirements specification and is completed on time and within budget by ascertaining the allocation of internal and external resources for the project and regularly monitoring the overall progress.
• Supervise IT professionals; monitor their performance; provide necessary coaching and feedback; and identify their development needs.
• Rate and report the service quality including reliability, system security, required documentation and performance of IT applications/services delivered by external contractors.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, sharing knowledge and insights with the IT team and broader organization.

The Person:

• Minimum of 15 year relevant experience in IT solutions delivery, including at least 10 years in managing IT system development projects in a sizeable organisation.
• Strong knowledge of application architecture principles, frameworks, and tools.
• Experience in designing and implementing large-scale, complex application systems.
• Proven vendor management experience
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to lead and manage teams effectively, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
• Experience in Agile and DevOps methodologies is preferred.
• Professional certification in IT architecture, such as TOGAF or Zachman, is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies and best practices.
• Extensive knowledge of UNIX, J2EE, Web development tools, RDBMS, Internet, Firewall, client-server and multi-tier computing
• Proficiency in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure) and microservices architecture.
• Experience with API design and integration, data modelling, and database technologies.
• Sound knowledge of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and IT Service Management frameworks such as CMMI and ITIL.
• Good people management and influencing skill

• In depth project management skill
